MASSIVE FIRE NEAR PIER HQ!

Very exciting moment 2 days ago when the former Co-op Funeral Home on Glasgow’s Morrison Street was gutted in a huge blaze. Being only 2 blocks away, we were a tiny bit too close for comfort! Was a good job we had some typical soggy Glasgow weather to help the firefighters.

Fire near Pier HQ!

Of Pitches, Pot Plants and Puppets of Pilots…..

The unpacking continues but there’s still the business of pitching and development to do as well – busy busy times ahead for the Pier. All rather exciting.

Of Pitches, Pot Plants and Puppets of Pilots

As you can see, we’ve retrieved a few props and puppets from our archives – the ‘Friendly Fire’, ‘Eisfuss’ and ‘OOglies’ boxes were opened yesterday!

Here we have Pierre the pilot from ‘Friendly Fire’ relaxing by an ‘OOglies’ pot plant as our Andy Kaiser furiously types up a pitch behind him.

Fine Frippery for Feet

And here we have some of the gorgeous costumes created for the Hansaplast Warm & Care ‘Eisfuss’ commercial by the very talented Valentin Duranthon. Surely one for the foot fetishists amongst you!

Today we built a shelf!

Camera department

Yes, we managed to drag our tired achy bones into our studio to try to create the impression of order and serenity. 3 hours later we’d built this rather nifty shelving unit for our camera gear! Blue Peter eat your heart out.

What’s next?

Oh yes, everything else.

The End of the Pier blog

Today the End of the Pier Films officially signed on a fantastic, echoingly large studio space right in the middle of Glasgow. The location is literally a 5 minute walk from Central Station and we’ll even give you a cup of tea and a Jammy Dodger when you get here.

And things are really buzzing.

We have Andy’s short film moving forward. The words ‘stereoscopic’ and ’3D’ are already being whispered in dark corners, and the concept designs are stunning. If you’ve seen ‘Friendly Fire’, you’ll no doubt have a good idea of the sort of complexity Andy’ll weave into this new film….

We have a short children’s series in the pipeline too. The concept is sweet and funky and will be a lot of fun to shoot. The development has slowed during our move but we’ll be picking up speed on it later this month.

And that’s not all. We’ll soon be opening our studio floor to animators and film companies needing shooting space, with special discounts for low-budget film-makers and new and emerging talent. Drop us a line with your needs and we’ll do our best to help!

More news coming soon so do pop back in a week or so.

Til then!
